La Fonera: Community Wireless Router reached Japan

The cheap community Linux-based wireless router 'La Fonera' reached Japan a little while ago and because 2000yen is really cheap for a wireless router, I just bought one yesterday to have a look at it.

For it's features please see its' web page. I'd rather report some stuff that caught my eye:

Started at Mandriva!

Yesterday I officially started in my new job at Mandriva, the company which brings you the fabulous Mandriva Linux! So now I'm also a Mandriva consultant :)

My work at Mandriva will be mainly software development for the Mandriva Club and other research projects. The first project I'll be working on is the realization of a multi-lingual software catalog for the club (platform: xwiki), similar to the Iris Software Gallery by Lycoris, which was acquired by Mandriva some time ago.

Some Random Notes

First, I certainly got back save from Glasgow. Somehow those flights start to feel shorter and shorter...

Back in Tokyo, I dived immediately into lots of work. One project finished yesterday, but the next ones are already waiting. Most of this is also fun stuff to do (exception: dealing with bureaucracies -- they are the exact opposite of my mindset which I would sketch as being flexible, fast and always trying to find an optimal solution), so don't take this as whining but more as an excuse for me to neglect my blog a bit.

So, what's new?
